With his designer stubble, grace and vision in possession, and a mop of slicked back hair tied down by a headband, it’s no surprise that the Celtic target has been dubbed Portugal’s equivalent to Jack Grealish.

According to the guy himself, there is another Premier League striker with whom one of Iberia’s most coveted attackers has a stronger affinity.

“I can see a bit of myself in Diogo Jota’s style,” Jota Silva tells The Guardian. “He is a great player.”

Diogo Jota has been a significant component of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team since signing from Wolves four years ago.

HITC Football knows that his namesake, Jota Silva, has been linked with a variety of clubs on either side of Hadrian’s Wall.

And if Celtic is his destination, Jota Silva may have to face comparisons to Jota Filipe, the much-missed winger who,

along with Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor,

was possibly the most important contributor to Ange Postecoglou’s successive Scottish Premiership wins.

Premier League clubs eye Portugal’s newbie

According to HITC, in addition to Celtic, there is interest from a number of Premier League clubs,

including promotion-chasing Leicester City. The Wolves, who have long been recognized as a safe launchpad for ambitious,

Portuguese-speaking prospects, may be viewed as favorites from an outside perspective.

Jota Silva is clearly ambitious. While Celtic may struggle to compete financially with their southern counterparts,

the lure of a seat at Europe’s top table at Parkhead could be enough to persuade the Vitoria Guimaraes star to follow in Jota Filipe’s Glaswegian footsteps.

“I want to reach the top of world football,” Jota Silva continues. “I want to play in the Champions League.”

Celtic, should they pass a testing qualification process, might achieve just that in 2024/25.

While Brendan Rodgers has frequently been chastised for an apparent’stockpiling’ of wide forwards during his two spells in charge,

the departure of Liel Abada to the MLS and the ageing limbs of James Forrest suggest there may still be a place at Parkhead for Jota Silva,

who is adaptable and ambidextrous enough to play all across the front line.

Jota Silva has 13 goals and seven assists for Vitoria this season, alternating his time between life on the left and runs on the right.

Could Celtic’s new Jota be another Jota?

Portugal coach Roberto Martinez praised Jota’s’versatility’ and individuality as he handed him his first Portugal cap against Sweden on Thursday at Guimaraes’ home stadium.

According to former Everton boss and AC Milan talisman and Portugal teammate Rafael Leao, he is a role model for late-blooming forwards who take the long way to the top.

“In big games, where there may be few opportunities, it is important to be efficient,” Jota’s former Vitoria coach Joao Aroso tells A Bola,

stressing the abilities that might turn a newbie to Martinez’s squad into a surprise in the Portuguese pack at Euro 2024.

“He is a player who, because of his effectiveness, can contribute. He is a player who, given the opportunity,

can score a goal and contribute to the definition of a more difficult game. Then there’s the mental component, which he excels at.

“He is an extremely dedicated player in training. Training mirrors what you see in the games.

He is extremely dedicated and focused on becoming a high-performance athlete.
