Ridvan Yilmaz has been hurt while playing for Turkey, creating the latest potential worry for Rangers manager Philippe Clement.

The left-back started for his country against Hungary on Friday night (March 22),

but Fotomac announced on Twitter during the first half that he would be unable to continue,

and Mert Muldur replaced the Ibrox regular in the 27th minute of the international friendly.

Rangers are already dealing with major injury concerns, with players such as Abdallah Sima, Danilo, Kieran Dowell, and Oscar Cortes out for the long term.

Gers defender may have been added to the extensive Ibrox injured list.

Yilmaz, 22, has finally established himself as the undisputed starter under Clement this season, after a career in Glasgow marred by fitness setbacks.

So if this injury takes him out of the team for an extended period of time, it will be the last thing he needs at this point,

let alone his manager, as the Belgian plots a path to a Gers treble.

Borna Barisic has just agreed to leave in the summer, with a free transfer to Trabzonspor now expected after losing his spot to the Turk.

However, if the current injury blow is severe, he may need to step in and contribute more before leaving.

With the Old Firm derby against Celtic coming up on 7 April, it might be a concern given the Croatian veteran has sometimes had his most tough outings in crucial Glasgow clashes.

That game might be the difference in a tight Scottish Premiership title fight this season, so Yilmaz’s absence could not come at a worse time for Rangers.
