The Rangers captain, who is in line for Player of the Season again,

with Jack Butland at least one other significant contender for the title alongside John Lundstram,

has spoken about this and other interest in recent times, admitting for the first time that,

while he is more than happy at Rangers, they have the final say on his future there.

There are strong suggestions that Steven Gerrard is interested in signing Tavernier for a cost of £7 million,

which Rangers would be difficult to turn down for a 32-year-old defender.

That being said, Tavernier’s numbers this season are absurd. 31 goals and assists in 47 games is an incredible return for any player on the pitch,

let alone a right back, and if in any season the captain has demonstrated his worth, it’s this one.

And it only adds to the speculation regarding his future, as Saudi sides are said to be looking at him based on what he can give.

Tav could not entirely reject the topic.

“[Finishing my career at Ibrox] is certainly dependent on Rangers. There are a lot of shifting parts,

but I’m enjoying my football here, and so is my family. I still feel young at heart.

I still feel 21, but I’m going to keep pushing forward and working hard.

The first two phrases are the first clue of Tavernier saying there is a possibility of him departing,

and in fairness, if Rangers are presented with a large offer for a player of his age,

it would be unthinkable for the club to turn that down.

We’ve already covered the club’s unwillingness to pay a high price for John Lundstram,

who is also past his prime and has little resale value.

However, Tav being offered a large salary in Saudi Arabia would be difficult for either him or the club to turn down.

He enjoys life here, but he admits for the first time that he may not always remain with the Rangers.

Those moving pieces are definitely an issue.
