Breaking news:West Ham ‘explore’ ambitious loan deal to land former Celtic star – but issue remains clear
According to rumors, West Ham United manager David Moyes is eager to add former Celtic striker Jota to his team in late January in
order to expand their offensive options.
The summer of 2021 saw the academy graduate from Benfica travel to Glasgow on a loan agreement that was eventually made
permanent for a meager £6.5 million a year later.During his two years in Scotland, the Portuguese winger was a huge asset to the
Hoops, with 21 assists and 21 goals in the league overall. Jota was largely responsible for Ange Postecoglou’s success; he was able to
win two Premiership titles, two League Cups, and one Scottish Cup when he was at Celtic. At this point, Jota was on the verge of
making a breakthrough on the international scene. He was selected for Portugal’s World Cup roster in Qatar, but the team came up
short.
Numerous European teams were interested in signing Jota due to his remarkable performance during the summer. However, Jota,
like many other high-profile players, decided to finalize a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia, and Al Ittihad ended up winning the race to
get the star for a fee of £25 million.
Jota moved to Jeddah to play among players like Karim Benzema, Fabinho, and N’Golo Kante, but oddly, he hasn’t played any first
team football at his new club since he was left out of the league squad a few weeks after joining.
