Rangers will appeal the sanctions, according to managing director Stewart Robertson, and they will spearhead the effort to alter Scottish

football’s “flawed” disciplinary structure.

Rangers have been fined by the Scottish Football Association for the Old Firm gestures made by Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos, as well as

for an altercation that occurred during the December match against Hibernian.

For breaking disciplinary rule 204, Rangers was fined a total of £10,000 by the SFA and had an extra £5,000 suspended until the end of

the season.

Rangers will appeal the penalty, Light Blues managing director Stewart Robertson said on Wednesday.

“We’re extremely disappointed,” Robertson continued in a RangersTV interview.

We plan to submit an appeal.

“We have been unhappy for a long time with the way the disciplinary procedure is being handled.

We’ve covered as much ground as we could.

There has also been a great deal of behind-the-scenes campaigning for changes, and it’s good to see that other clubs are presently taking

part in this lobbying.

“We plan to appeal the fine; further details will be disclosed at a later time.”The fact that there is almost a double peril disappoints us

greatly.

Apart from the player, the club might also have to deal with the fallout. That is just not true. The underlying rule that is applicable—or has

been implemented in this instance—isn’t fair, in our opinion. For that, natural justice does not exist.

Beyond that, though, we think the judicial system still has significant issues, and we are actively collaborating with the SFA to address

them.

“A lot of that will happen in the backdrop.

While a lot of work is being done in the background to remedy that, I can see how some fans could get upset that they aren’t always able to

see or hear what we are doing.

Rangers had already said they were “astonished” to have been charged in relation to the Celtic and Hibernian games.

Technical coach Tom Culshaw was fired during the 3-0 triumph overHibernian and the home team’s bench got into a brawl at Easter Road

following Ryan Porteous’ dismissal for a reckless tackle on Borna Barisic.

In addition to an immediate one-match touchline suspension, he was given a suspended one-game punishment for his involvement in the

incident that will expire at the conclusion of the season.
