John Wall was regarded as one of the NBA’s top point guards for a while. But the former first-round choice discloses how his mental health has suffered recently after suffering multiple injuries and a notable setback in his career.

On the basketball court, Wall was a formidable opponent during the height of his NBA career. He undoubtedly had the greatest season of his Washington Wizards career in 2016–17, averaging 23.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game.

Wall missed a substantial period of time on the court as a result of a heel injury and the subsequent infection. The five-time All-Star’s career came to an end as a result of this regression.

Unbeknownst to many, Wall observed that while recovering from his injury and attempting to rejoin the team, he was having mental health issues. During that time, the former Wizards star nearly lost everything, calling it “rock bottom.”

Wall has discussed his struggles over the previous few years with his mental health. The former NBA player disclosed in a Fox News piece how he nearly took his own life in 2019 as a result of his injuries and his mother’s passing.

“If it wasn’t for my two boys, I would’ve killed myself. I put a gun to my head twice, and a lot of people that’s close to me and my friends at the time didn’t know,” Wall said in an episode of The OGs podcast.

Wall has played for the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers in a small amount of games since his comeback to the league, but he has produced decent stats. The former All-Star point guard was just dealt back to Houston, whereupon the Rockets executive office released him.

It’s unclear if Wall will sign with a new squad for the upcoming campaign. In any event, fans are hoping he has moved on from the dark chapter of his career in the past.
