Brendan Rodgers, Celtic manager, says the club will ‘look at it’ in the summer over the future of West Brom player Mikey Johnston.

The 24-year-old has been a big success since joining The Hawthorns, with one of the finest goal-to-game ratios.

He has six goals and one assist in ten appearances for the Baggies so far.

Before moving to the West Midlands, Johnston’s playing time had been limited,

with only four starts in the first half of the season.

He has since lit up West Brom, scoring four goals in his last three games,

prompting calls for the club to sign him on a permanent basis.

The 24-year-old is under contract at Celtic Park until the summer of 2026,

and if West Brom wins promotion to the Premier League, they may be obliged to pay a large transfer fee to sign him permanently.

Rodgers told the Daily Record: “I spoke to him in the summer when he was trying to go on loan,

and I told him to stay and get his training correct because he hadn’t had a regular period of training, let alone playing games.

“He was able to achieve that, so he featured in some games for us, and after he trained and featured, it was time to get him game time.

He has gone out and done well, demonstrating the potential that everyone knows he possesses.

Hopefully he continues with that, and then we can revisit it in the summer.”

In other news, Football Insider reports that Shaun Maloney is in the running for the Watford manager’s job.

The Hornets are looking for a new manager after parting ways with Valerien Ismael,

and despite Tom Cleverley’s successful debut against Birmingham City, they may seek elsewhere.

Maloney is the manager of Wigan Athletic and has been in charge since January 2023.

He was unable to keep them from being demoted, but after receiving multiple point deductions, he has stabilised the team.

The 41-year-old is most known for his two playing spells at Celtic, but he also spent a season with West Brom’s West Midlands rivals Aston Villa.

He also won the FA Cup while playing for Wigan, defeating Manchester City.

Meanwhile, tickets to Millwall’s away game have sold out.

The sale of tickets was delayed at the end of February, but with West Brom in fine form,

fans have scooped them up as Carlos Corberan’s side gets closer to securing a play-off spot.

A total of 2,000 fans will descend on the capital when West Brom face Millwall at The Den on Good Friday (March 29, kick-off at 1.00).
