Dundee to be ‘hammered’ by SPFL over Rangers call off as repeated pitch sin sees key rule broken.

Following the cancellation of their match against Rangers,

Dundee will supposedly be “hammered” by the SPFL.

The late cancellation of the midday Scottish Premiership match cost the Light Blues the opportunity to climb back to the top of the

standings.

Instead, Celtic led the league heading into the international break,

with Tayside’s heavy downpour ruining the possibilities of the important match proceeding.

Dundee’s fourth home loss of the season has infuriated Philippe Clement, who has cautioned league executives about the quality of the

Dens Park field.

The controlling body of the league seems to have taken a dim view of the occurrence, since they have already initiated an investigation into it.

This was the only SPFL game to be postponed due to inclement weather. There’s “every chance the Tayside club will be brought to book over the fiasco”, according to the Daily Mail tonight.

According to the SPFL’s regulations,

“Each club is responsible for making sure the playing surface at its registered venue and any other ground where it serves as the home club

for a league or play-off match is smooth”, in good repair, and in good shape. … outfitted with a powerful drainage system to prevent

flooding from making it unusable.”

Back in the SPL era, Motherwell landed a five-figure fine over the standard of the pitch.

The Steelmen received a £50k fine in 2010.
