Brendan Rodgers gives encouraging Celtic injury update regarding key midfielder

Hoops Brendan Rodgers has provided some encouraging news about the injury status of one of his important players.

Reo Hatate, who hasn’t played for the Hoops since early January, could be on his way back.

Hatate has spent much of the 2023/24 season out due to numerous injuries. He struggled with a calf condition early in the season before suffering a hamstring injury shortly after returning. He is currently out of action due to another calf injury.

As a result, the Japanese international has played only eight Scottish Premiership games this season. Despite his limited playing time, he has managed to make an impression, scoring two goals and providing two assists at this point in the campaign. Rodgers seems to be a big fan of his, saying he will be ‘huge for us’ upon his return.

What has been said about Reo Hatate’s fitness?

When asked if he wants Hatate to catch up during the international break, Rodgers replied, “Yeah, that’s the plan.” We want to get minutes into Reo [Hatate] and motivate him. He’ll be huge for us. We’ll get some of the players to work here, play a game, and get some of them caught up. It’s simply been one of those seasons. Players have suffered amusing minor injuries, such as Reo, who was on his way back and then sustained one while playing for his country.

“We’ve come close to bringing everyone back and around it. There was a brief interval, but it hasn’t quite happened yet. What matters is that we are still there, still fighting and still in a really good place. Then we will go into the last leg of the race, which I’m looking forward to. Reo will be huge for us.”
