Ibrox News:Reasons Cyriel Dessers will exit rangers this summer revealed

Ibrox Noise enjoys our stats, as regulars will attest, and we have provided Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers with far more assistance than most.

However, he’s been having some bad luck lately as well (no goals or assists in the last five games), so he’s coming under increased criticism once more.

But for Rangers fans, his offsides are one of the most annoying aspects of his play.

Is Dessers really frequently off-base, or is this all “in our heads”?

Yes, he is, is the response.

With a very concerning 28 offsides this season, Dessers has actually surpassed his lone rival in the SPL, Simon Murray of Ross County, with 21.

In contrast—you knew we were going there—Hearts’ Lawrence Shankland has only been caught offside seven times,

which is incredibly efficient considering it is already the middle of March.

Dessers is also very high in the Europa League with four offsides, with Olympiacos’ Ayoub El Kaabi having the worst with seven.

What then are we to make of this?

The obvious conclusion is that Dessers’ movement isn’t timed well enough. He’s a large enough guy and a skilled enough striker to know when to timing his runs,

but it’s obvious that he hasn’t performed to the level he should have throughout his career.

He has prior experience. With 24 offsides during the previous season, Dessers ranked third worst in Serie A for Cremonese; Francesco Caputo of Empoli led the league with 34 offsides.

It’s part of his game, so anyone hoping he can be talked out of it is sorry. Dessers has had several excellent managers throughout the years, but none of them were able to resolve this.

Season prior to playing for Feyenoord? Not very good, ranking 14th out of 15 in Holland. The worst was number 28.

Dessers will always rank highly in this regard, but his 23 goals and 43 assists this season hardly make up for his shortcomings.

Additionally, the manager will be working with this until summer.

It’s not really worth whining about, honestly.
