On a dismal Sunday morning in Tayside, Rangers arrived at Dens Park to find their Scottish Premiership match

versus Dundee postponed. Their trek north had been for nothing.

As a result, Philippe Clement’s team will be unable to retake the top spot in the league after Celtic, their rivals and

champions, defeated St Johnstone at Parkhead on Saturday to move ahead of them.

Even though the Light Blues are now in second place going into the international break, they still have the Dundee

match to come.

And that timing could be critical since fans, most of whom had already left if they were traveling from Glasgow, are

anxious to find out when the game will actually take place.

When club football begins, Clement will be especially interested in learning the truth as he gets ready for a big

moment.

For those who arrange SPFL fixtures and have nightmares about the Light Blues playing in Europe, the news that

Rangers were knocked out of the Europa League by Benfica last week at least eases their pain.

April 2/3 and April 9/10 are the two midweek dates that are available. The first is scheduled for a few days before

Rangers’ historic Old Firm matchup with Celtic at Ibrox on April 7, while the second is scheduled for after the Hoops

game.

Even though it would mean starting that game in second position, Clement would almost definitely prefer to have a

full week to prepare for the champions’ visit to Govan rather than risk injury during a midweek trip to Dens Park.

Rangers will play their next league game at home against Hibs on Saturday, March 30. Clement will be interestedly

observing the postponed game.

That has at least freed up one midweek before the top flight splits after Rangers’ trip to Ross County on April 14.
