Most of the crew is poised to return as the Kansas City Chiefs aim to become the first club in the Super Bowl era to

threepeat as back-to-back-to-back champions. But one player whose future is questionable is outstanding

cornerback L’Jarius Sneed.

After spending four years in Kansas City after being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, he has

participated in two Super Bowls and assisted the Chiefs in winning two more.

However, his contract has now expired. After determining Sneed’s worth, the Chiefs gave their starting cornerback,

27, the franchise tag.

He would have made $19.8 million in 2024 if he had signed it, but he would also be back in this same predicament

the next year looking for a new contract.

Rather, the 6-foot-1 cornerback has been the subject of a lot of trade talk.

A trade might be the wisest course of action for all parties because the Chiefs are already close to the salary cap and

do not have the additional space required to pay Sneed what he is worth. There is currently significant movement

toward reaching an agreement.

As per Destin Adams of A to Z Sports, the Indianapolis Colts are getting close to acquiring L’Jarius Sneed through

trade.

The Colts are anticipated to send the Chiefs a third-round pick (No. 82) in 2024 and an additional unidentified pick

in 2025 in what is considered to be a very tight transaction.

Other Colts reporters, like Stephen Holder, speculate that a trade with the Colts might not even occur.

The primary obstacle appears to be Sneed’s undetermined wage demands.

On the other hand, the Colts will strengthen their defense if they are able to come to an agreement.

Pro Football Focus gave Sneed a covering grade of 73.8 last season,

which placed him 30th out of 126 cornerbacks and good for 29th place.

The Colts can effectively utilize him as an outside cornerback because that is his primary position.

Although it was first thought that the Chiefs were looking to trade Sneed for a second-round pick, those offers were never fulfilled.

In addition, Sneed will still need to sign with the Colts to perhaps one of the highest-paying cornerback contracts.

Nevertheless, the Chiefs still have an opportunity to bolster their roster this offseason if they receive the 82nd pick in

addition to another selection in 2025.

JuJu Brents and Kenny Moore III will be paired with a new starting cornerback for the Colts in the interim.
