Celtic land double coefficient slapdown as Rangers burden made clear amid £70m Champions League jeopardy

Scotland’s hopes of holding on to a spot in UEFA’s top 10 rankings are hanging by a thread.

The run in Europe that has seen Fiorentina emerge as the only team capable of saving Scotland’s position in the top 10 coefficients has been attributed to Celtic.

The final slot in the top 10 will determine a team’s automatic qualification to the Champions League until 2025–2026.Callum McGregor

Celtic has qualified for the Champions League for the past two seasons after winning the Scottish Premiership.

The Scots will take on the Czech Republic in this match.

However, Rangers’ Thursday loss to Benfica has seriously jeopardized Scotland’s chances of securing a group stage position,

since they are now unable to accrue extra points.

Scotland would fall out of the top 10 performing countries in the UEFA rankings if the Czechs defeated the Serie A team and advanced to the Europa Conference League quarterfinals.

In addition, Tam McManus, a journalist for the Record, was on edge, nervous about Scotland’s slim chance of earning automatic entry for Europe’s top championship.

McManus stated to PLZ, “It’s enormous. Fiorentina was awarded to Plzen,

which is, in our opinion, quite good. They are, in my opinion,

the second-best team in the competition, therefore let’s hope Fiorentina defeats them both at home and away and Plzen fails to earn any bonus po

For both Celtic and Rangers, finishing in the top 10 will be crucial since the £35 million prize pool for making it through the group stage will double starting in the next season.

Speaking on the Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Hugh Keevins was forthright about Celtic as well.

“We make a song and dance out of our clubs traveling to Europe,

but they are not very good once they get there,” he remarked.

Celtic’s track record in Europe is not great. Rangers might claim to have fulfilled their responsibility.

They advanced to a European final thanks to Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Clement led them to the final 16 despite a rough beginning.”

ints.Regretfully, throughout the past two seasons, only the Rangers have truly been racking up the points. The other teams,

Celtic included, have not made any progress at all.

“Thus, from a Scottish perspective, I believe that many would have wanted Rangers to win that tie,

but sadly they didn’t. Thus, let’s hope Fiorentina defeats Plzen and we can hold onto the tenth position.”
