Celtic land double coefficient slapdown as Rangers burden made clear amid £70m Champions League jeopardy
Scotland’s hopes of holding on to a spot in UEFA’s top 10 rankings are hanging by a thread.
The run in Europe that has seen Fiorentina emerge as the only team capable of saving Scotland’s position in the top 10 coefficients has been attributed to Celtic.
The final slot in the top 10 will determine a team’s automatic qualification to the Champions League until 2025–2026.
Celtic has qualified for the Champions League for the past two seasons after winning the Scottish Premiership.
The Scots will take on the Czech Republic in this match.
However, Rangers’ Thursday loss to Benfica has seriously jeopardized Scotland’s chances of securing a group stage position,
since they are now unable to accrue extra points.
