West Brom must capitalise on Rangers update by sealing summer transfer swoop for midfielder

Whether or not they are promoted to the Premier League, West Bromwich Albion fans can expect an entertaining summer.

Due to the lack of funding from former owner Guochuan Lai, the Baggies have had difficult transfer windows

recently. As a result, Carlos Corberan has been looking for loan agreements and free transfers to bolster the team. In

addition, the people who did show up were probably paid very little.

Pleasingly for Albion, Shilen Patel’s arrival should give the boss more freedom in the market, and it will be intriguing

to see what sort of business they can get done under the new regime.

West Brom should target John Lundstram

It’s a challenging moment for recruiting teams up and down the country, as many clubs don’t know what league they

will be in next season, yet they must still try to prepare forward – and Albion fall into that category.

John Lundstram, a midfielder for the Rangers, is one player who would be a good match

for West Brom in either division, though.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at Ibrox in the summer, and it has been claimed that he is stalling on a new deal,

so Albion must try to capitalise on that.

At his best, Lundstram is a very good player, and given his qualities, he could thrive under the guidance of Corberan.

Although his goals and assists may not make the headlines, anybody who has watched the former Sheffield United

player play for Rangers knows that he is their main player in the middle of the park.

He is a true leader for the Glasgow team, one who will not back down and plays with intensity.

He knows exactly what is needed of a defensive midfielder in terms of positioning himself to thwart danger and

providing a physicality that enables him to compete with the best.

Lundstram’s career with Rangers has been filled with ups and downs, but it’s no accident that he has had many of his best moments on the grander stage.

He has performed exceptionally well in Europe, where Rangers are frequently the underdog. He enjoys playing the

hard yards, winning back the ball, and leading the team when necessary.
