Unhappy Development Regarding Leighton Vander Esch’s Cowboys Prospects.

A new report has surfaced about the career of Leighton Vander Esch.

The Dallas Cowboys were silent throughout the first few days of free agency, but they eventually made their move. To strengthen the linebacker core, the Cowboys signed LB Eric Kendricks on March 13.

After using safety Markquese Bell at linebacker over the second half of the season, that was a much-needed change. On the defensive side, though, this new arrival means the end for another player.

In addition to announcing Kendricks’ signing, ESPN reported that LB Leighton Vander Esch would likely announce his retirement in the coming weeks.

Cowboys: It’s anticipated that Leighton Vander Esch will retire

Sadly, Vander Esch’s playing career has been marred by injuries the entire time. The 28-year-old missed seven games in the 2016 season due to a pinched nerve in his neck while playing for Boise State.

He carried those neck injuries into the NFL. In order to resolve the nerve problems that kept him out of seven games in 2019, Vander Esch underwent neck surgery. Things carried over from the previous season. Vander Esch was placed on injured reserve following his fifth game of play following another neck injury he suffered during the 49ers game against the San Francisco Giants.

The 2018 first-round selection is in a difficult position. When healthy, he is such a disruptive defender, but throughout his career, he has had trouble staying on the pitch.

Vander Esch recorded 469 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions, and 13 pass deflections in six seasons.

Although the Cowboys have one of the greatest teams in the league and a legitimate chance to win Super Bowl LIX, the loss of Vander Esch will be felt. At +1700, they presently have the seventh-best odds to win the whole competition in the NFL. Visit FanDuel Sportsbook, get your welcome bonus, and use these odds to support the Cowboys.
