He’s been on fire in 2024.

According to a recent update, Aston Villa and many Premier League opponents are

rumored to be interested in a new “quality striker”.

Aston Villa transfer rumours

Pau Torres and Moussa Diaby signed big-money contracts with NSWE to support

Unai Emery ahead of his first full season in command. The team also added a

number of players in January, including Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rogers, a winger.

Emery and his team are challenging for a top-four finish while still playing in the

Europa Conference League, proving the club’s faith in him has paid off.

But in the Midlands, focus behind closed doors might soon shift to the summer

transfer market. Should Villa achieve Champions League football and trade star

midfielder Douglas Luiz, they could spend as much as £200 million ahead of the

2024–2025 season.

Regarding specific targets, Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso and FC Porto

defensive midfielder Alan Varela are both being watched, along with Athletic Bilbao

striker Nico Williams. But it appears that Villa Park has added a fresh name to their

shortlist.

Aston Villa eyeing Brazil striker Pedro

Aston Villa looks to be in the running to acquire Flamengo striker Pedro, maybe

seeing him as competition for star player Ollie Watkins, according to reports from

overseas that were passed along by The Hard Tackle.

They are not the only club, though; West Ham United and Chelsea, two fierce rivals

in the top division, were also mentioned. Flamengo will only discuss his departure

for a price of about €30 million (£25.6 million) plus a sell-on clause, the report

continues.

Pedro started 2024 in excellent form, scoring eight goals in as many games. Pedro

has experienced great success with Flamengo in his home country.

Early in his career, the 26-year-old did relocate to Europe with the Italian team

Fiorentina, but it was a bad decision as he failed to score goals and sustained a

significant injury. More recently, he has found a home with Flamengo.

Fluminense 67 21 3
Fiorentina 4 0 0
Brazil 6 1 0

Last year, legendary Brazilian player Ronaldo praised Pedro, calling him a “quality

striker” and predicting a bright future for him with the national team.

“The top scorer and star of the Brasileirao will be Pedro. Also the best player in America in 2023. Pedro is a quality striker who makes the difference in Flamengo’s attack, he has a huge future ahead of him, with a future also in the Selecao.”

Guy Mowbray, a BBC pundit, identified the attacker as one to watch in the 2022

World Cup, stating: “Let’s face it, you’ve got to have something special to get picked

in a squad as loaded with attacking talent as Brazil’s.”

“He’s not fast, but he finishes well.” A prominent stand-in role is ready for when the

Selecao requires a change of pace.
