Update: Rangers chiefs plotting major triple transfer in huge summer overhaul for Clement
According to sources, Philippe Clement is expected to have a hectic summer of transition at Rangers following an
extraordinarily successful first five months in command. A number of arrivals and departures are anticipated.
Rangers transfer news
As things stand, the Gers are headed for the Scottish Premiership in a season where, before to Clement’s arrival, their
qualifications appeared to be in jeopardy. Following the dismissal of Michael Beale, the Scottish powerhouses have
executed a remarkable comeback to surpass Celtic, their Old Firm rivals,
and move closer to possible greatness under the former AS Monaco manager.
However, with players’ contracts expiring and some leaving, Rangers appear to be in for a few changes—even if they
win the Scottish Premiership in May. As of right now, the Gers are expected to lose Kemar Roofe, Borna Barisic,
Ryan Jack, John Lundstram, and Borna Barisic as free agents this summer,
and rumors also state that Ridvan Yilmaz’s future is uncertain.
There will be huge gaps in Clement’s roster as a result of those departures, and when the summer transfer window opens, new players will
need to fill them. And it appears that’s precisely what the Rangers recruiting staff has in mind.
Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider reports that as part of a big overhaul, Rangers’ recruiting team has indicated to
Clement the need for a new left-back, central midfielder, and striker this summer.
Three elite recruits are likely to replace those five names.
It’s unclear exactly who those recruits will be, but as loan agreements for players like Oscar Cortes and Fabio Silva
expire, it will be interesting to watch if the incoming champions consider making permanent moves for their loanees
in the upcoming months. They would have received summer switches if they
had assisted the Gers in winning the league.
Rangers should look inwards for permanent deals
Although there will definitely be new targets this summer, Rangers would be better off looking at players like Cortes
and Silva who have already had an impact at Ibrox. Both players have shown great potential; unfortunately, the
former’s loan stint was cut short due to an injury.
Rangers are obligated to purchase Mohamed Diomande following his loan period, but reports already indicate that
they want to sign Cortes permanently this summer. Jack, who is expected to leave as a free agency at the conclusion
of the season, has a ready-made replacement in the midfielder.
