Rangers exit deal wanted before season end to replace France-bound man – report

As per Yunus Emre Sel, Trabzonspor has signed Borna Barisic from Rangers to replace Eren Elmalı, who is

anticipated to get offers to relocate to France.

On March 12, the Turkish journalist for Sabah and Fotomac revealed on his YouTube channel that the Turkish

defender is set to leave the Super Lig, with bids expected to get more expensive as the season draws to a close.

Since the Croatian’s contract at Ibrox expires in the summer and he is free to negotiate terms with European clubs,

the club has already chosen to pursue Barisic in his place.

Before the current campaign finishes, Trabzonspor hopes to sign seven players. The Rangers player is one of their

top targets, and they have already had discussions with his agency.

Barisic appears to be ready to move because his negotiations with Rangers have not resulted in a good outcome

despite being open for months [Football Scotland, 3 November].

The Croatian’s delivery is on par with anyone in the SPFL, but he has frequently faced criticism for his defensive play.

Given that Brazilian Jefte is expected to join at the end of the season, the club can likely afford to let the 31-year-old

go now that he has lost his spot to Ridvan Yilmaz.

It will however mean another senior player leaving the club for no fee, after the likes of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos

and Filipe Helander all departed for nothing in the summer.

Since Calvin Bassey’s high-profile exit two summers ago, left-back play has been problematic because Yilmaz has

taken a while to get settled at Ibrox.

It appears that Barisic’s time in Glasgow is about to end now that he has, however the 22-year-old has also been

predicted to leave in a big-money deal after being strongly linked to a move to Turkey on his own in January.
