Nottingham forest comes back with a tempting offer for rangers target

Charlie Adam worried. Gareth Southgate will not be the only English manager keeping an eye on Rangers’ number one, Jack Butland.

Butland, 30, might return to the Three Lions squad when the manager announces his selection for tomorrow’s friendly against Brazil and Belgium. But Adam, who played alongside the excellent shotstopper at Stoke City, would not be surprised if his recall inspires more summer interest from the south.

Only six months after signing Butland on a cheap free transfer, the Gers were forced to reject a late January bid from Premier League team Nottingham Forest. Butland has made it clear that he enjoys living in Glasgow, and Adam hopes he will stay for several years.

He told The Scottish Sun that “Jack has been incredible.” Rangers are really fortunate to have such an excellent goalkeeper. His prize now would be to make the England squad. I don’t understand why he shouldn’t be present. His performances this year indicate that he should be given the opportunity. I understand how important playing for England was to him.

“He’s been outstanding since joining the Rangers. Consider his consistent level of play and his European performances. Gareth has previously worked with him. He understands the type of person he’s receiving.

“Jack knows the goalkeeping coach extremely well. That should increase his influence during the forthcoming camp. Of course you want the Rangers to keep him. In the summer, I wouldn’t be surprised if some English clubs came calling for him.

“What he’s done so far is amazing for the Rangers, but you have no influence over what happens on the outside. However, there is now a championship race, which Jack will be looking forward to.
