Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott files a lawsuit, accusing a Fort Worth lady of $100 million extortion.
Dak Prescott, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback, filed a lawsuit in Collin County on Monday against a woman who
allegedly is attempting to extort $100 million from him to settle a sexual assault claim from 2017. Prescott is seeking $10 million in damages for pain, suffering, and mental anguish.
The lawsuit was brought in Collin County, Texas, against a Fort Worth woman and her lawyers, Bethel T. Zehaie and
Yoel T. Zehaie. Prescott rejected the claim by text message to the Star-Telegram on Monday. “She is trying to get $100 million from me to ‘not report’ a rape case that I obviously did not do,” Prescott claimed in the text.
His attorney, Levi McCarthern, released a statement. “Recently, Mr. Prescott found himself the subject of an extortion plot,” she claimed. “The Defendant and her legal team have threatened to go public with a completely
invented claim of sexual assault from nearly ten years ago, and have demanded that Mr. Prescott instantly pay $100 million in exchange for her not filing false accusations with the authorities.
“Mr. Prescott, a new father of a baby girl, empathizes deeply with survivors of sexual assault. He firmly thinks that all perpetrators of such acts should face the full weight of the law. To be clear, Mr. Prescott has never engaged in
nonconsensual sexual activity with anyone. Lies hurt. Especially nasty lies. We will not let the Defendant and her legal team profit from their attempt to extort millions from Mr. Prescott.
Prescott filed an 11-page lawsuit in response to a letter he received on January 16, 2024, stating that he sexually assaulted the Fort Worth woman in February 2017.
“…has had to live with this pain and trauma for 7 years,” the letter stated. “It had such an impact on her relationship
with her fiancé and her daily life that she had to seek treatment and counseling, and she will need it again in the
future. She has experienced immeasurable mental torment as a result of being the victim of a sexual attack. Despite
the unfortunate occurrences, she is willing to waive criminal charges and disclose this information to the public in
exchange for compensation for the mental suffering she has experienced. … damages total $100,000,000.00. “You have until February 16, 2024 to respond to this demand letter.”
According to the letter, “she is willing to forego pursuing criminal charges, along with disclosing this information to the public, in exchange for compensating her for the mental anguish she has suffered. … damages are valued at the
sum of $100,000,000.00.”
Prescott’s lawsuit claims that the defendants conspired to extort, libel, degrade, and tortiously interfere with his existing and potential contracts seven years after the alleged incident, with full knowledge of his upcoming
discussions for a new deal.
