Celtic are on the verge of signing youthful star Daniel Kelly for a longer stint. With the midfielder’s contract expiring this season, the club has made an offer for an extension in the hopes of keeping the emerging star on their roster for the foreseeable future. [Record Sports]
Kelly, who is only 18, has already made an impression, breaking into Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven and scoring his first senior goal in a rout of Dundee. His goal was the best of the bunch as the Hoops put seven past the hapless SPFL strugglers.
Kelly is no stranger to Celtic’s developmental teams, having excelled in both the B and Under-18 squads.
His abilities have not gone unnoticed, with interest coming from big names like as Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, as well as certain English clubs. Nonetheless, his heart seemed set on staying at Parkhead.
With the club eager to avoid losing him to a measly training compensation, like so many other promising players have done, they are all in on ensuring Kelly is a part of their future plans.
Rodgers, realizing his potential, is steadily increasing his playing time, hinting at a berth in the starting XI sooner rather than later. With a match versus St Johnstone coming up on Saturday, we’ll probably see Kelly on the field again.
