Brendan Rodgers declares ambition for Celtic to win Scottish Cup

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers hasn’t had it all his own way since returning to Parkhead last summer, though he could still finish the season with two trophies.

The Bhoys have nine league matches left to play this season and are two points behind Rangers in the Scottish Premiership;

however, both teams are still to face off twice before the curtain goes down on 2023/24.Of course,

we also find ourselves in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup following a 4-2 victory over Livingston last weekend,

providing an opportunity for the Irishman to claim a domestic double.

Pressure is rising on the Bhoys to get it right as the season enters its final stretch, Celtic FC v Dundee FC - Cinch Scottish Premiership

and they could rise to the summit of the league table by claiming all three points against St Johnstone this Saturday.

Rangers are in action away to Dundee the following day;

however, twists and turns will come in the next couple of months as we wait for all to be determined.

Away from Scottish Premiership action,

Celtic have been tasked with finding a way past managerless Aberdeen at Hampden in April on the weekend of April 20th/21st.

Rodgers has never lost a match in association football’s oldest tournament,

winning 15 matches consecutively across his first and second spells at Parkhead.

Rodgers stated [Celtic TV]: “I’ve been fortunate to have worked with fantastic players who have been able to get us through the rounds,

but there’s clearly something obviously with regards to the pressure of it, but for us,

we enjoy that pressure, and that’s what it has to be at a club like Celtic.“There’s always big pressure on the games,

but to get through to the semi-final with an opportunity to get to the final, we want to be able to make that big step.

” Celtic have a fruitful relationship with the Scottish Cup Celtic have won the Scottish Cup on 41 occasions since its inception back in 1873,

which is, you guessed it, a record number of times to have claimed the famous prize.

Whether it be the icing on the cake after winning a treble, an accompaniment to winning the league or a stand-alone prize,

the Bhoys usually seem to turn it on at Hampden when featuring in the competition.

This year, there is also the small matter of the final taking place on Saturday, 25th May,

which coincides with the 57th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions conquering all of Europe.

Nobody wants to miss out on the potential for such an exciting occasion.

It is now over to Celtic to deliver the goods against Aberdeen next month to ensure we are present at Hampden on the special date.
