Rangers set cashout on contract rebel as club set to announce transfer
Trabzonspor have begun negotiations with Rangers striker Borna Barisic, and his agency has been ‘invited’ to Istanbul for talks,
which are expected to ‘gather steam’ in the coming days.
The Croatia international joined Rangers in the summer of 2018 from NK Osijek and has appeared in 230 appearances for the club.
Rangers’ contract with Barisic is slated to expire in May, and the club risks losing the left-back on a free transfer this summer.
Despite being the first-choice left-back this season, Rangers manager Phillipe Clement has recently preferred Ridvan Yilmaz over Barisic.
Rangers reportedly want to extend his contract, but they have yet to reach an agreement.
The 31-year-old defender has admirers on the market, including Turkish club Trabzonspor.
According to Turkish newspaper Sabah, Trabzonspor has began talks to sign Barisic away from Ibrox in the summer.
Abdullah Avci’s side has summoned the Rangers star’s agency to Turkey, and negotiations are anticipated to pick up in the coming days.
It remains to be seen whether Rangers will increase their efforts to keep Barisic at Ibrox in the coming summer.
