Jets Reunite With Coach After Signing Former First Round Pick

On social media, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter disclosed that defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw of the San Francisco 49ers “reached agreement on a one-year deal” with the New York Jets while the legal tampering period was in effect.

As the 14th overall selection in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft, Kinlaw joined the team. When that pick was handed in, Robert Saleh was the 49ers’ defensive coordinator.

In terms of his draft position, Kinlaw has fallen short of the expectations. His fifth-year option was rejected by the 49ers last year, making him an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

“He just needs to stay on the field; the talent is there.” According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, this restoration effort carries no risk.

The 26-year-old Kinlaw has made 28 starts in 41 games. Cimini claimed he has struggled with a number of injury concerns and has been a “disappointment.”

The good news is that Kinlaw just finished a successful year for her profession. He played in all 17 games, recorded a career-high 3.5 sacks, and displayed some promising moments.

The defensive coaching staff of the Jets is probably the best person to help the kid reach his full potential. They have a history of nurturing talent and had a previous relationship with him.

With less, the green and white guy managed to create chicken salad out of, well, chicken. Off waivers, Quincy Williams was claimed. Free agent Bryce Huff was not selected. Additionally, waivers were used to claim John Franklin-Myers.

In 2023, Williams was a first-team All-Pro. Huff just signed the biggest UDFA contract in NFL history. A $55 million extension was granted to JFM.

Some of these players came from modest origins, but the Jets were able to turn them into valuable assets. Maybe Kinlaw will be the next notch on their hat.
