Twist: Clement personally urged Rangers bosses to reach an agreement.

Regarding the future of a “magnificent” Rangers player, an important update has surfaced,

and Philippe Clement’s position on the issue has been made apparent.
Rangers contract details

Many of the Gers’ players have contracts expiring at Ibrox at the end of the season,

so a lot of attention will be paid to either sign them to an extension or let them go.

One such player, John Lundstram, has a contract that is about to expire,

but a recent rumor suggests that the 30-year-old is “very keen” on staying with Rangers.

The update suggested that an agreement might possibly be reached in the “coming weeks”.

Similar circumstances also face Kemar Roofe and Lundstram,

but Roofe’s move to the Gers and his departure for free this summer to make room for an upgrade is said to have pleased the team.

A replacement “A-List” attacker is being considered ahead of the crucial summer transfer window.

In addition to the players who will shortly expire from contracts, there are a number of loanees who have impressed enough during their brief stay at Ibrox to warrant permanent transfers.

Brighton is prepared to sell Abdallah Sima for between £10 and $15 million in the summer,

allowing the Gers to potentially shatter their record transfer fee of £12 million paid for Tore Andre Flo at the start of the century.

Sima has scored 10 goals in his 15 starts in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Having performed well since joining from Wolves,

fellow loanee Fabio Silva is another option to sign permanently at the conclusion of the season,

but it’s unclear if Sima and Silva will both sign.

Twist on the “magnificent” future of the Rangers ace

In a recent development that takes a new turn, Football Insider has reported that Lundstram’s negotiations with Rangers for a new contract have now “stalled”.

The Englishman is obviously rated as a player by Clement,

who is “personally pushing” for the transaction to close and views him as a “integral part of the first-team squad”.

The Liverpool-born player is expected to get several offers for a new contract in the summer,

but Lundstram “now wants to weigh up his options before committing to a new contract,” the story continues.

Given that the former Sheffield United star is now 30 years old and will likely expect substantial compensation in a new contract,

Rangers will have a difficult summer ahead of them.

He might drift past his top in the near future, therefore there could be a risk.

Nevertheless, Andy Walker has called Lundstram “magnificent” and Clement feels that he still has a lot to give.

With 62 Premier League outings under his belt, he has a plethora of high-level experience and may be at his peak for some time to come.

Rangers’ owners will ultimately make the decision, but given Clement’s performance in Glasgow thus far,

the manager must be trusted to make the right choice if he wants an extension.
