Star ‘rejected’ by Rangers at 14 now wanted by huge clubs – Big transfer on horizon, Ibrox snub didn’t affect him
Long before Philippe Clement took over, Lewis Ferguson had a moment in his career where Rangers could have signed him as a long-term midfield player.
It turns out that the Scottish midfielder’s career could have gone in a very different direction because, as a teenager, he was rejected by Rangers.
In a recent interview with CalcioNapoli24 Live, his agent Bill McMurdo recounted this story, including some information about what transpired at Ibrox at the time,
although he insisted that the player was never truly harmed.
Ferguson told me that his rejection by Rangers at the age of 14 had no impact on him and that he will play in Serie A going forward.
He dreamed of playing for Italy since he was 14 years old, according to Bill Mcmurdo.
Regarding Ferguson’s future, McMurdo mentioned that he is being pursued by a number of elite teams and may be moving to a new Italian club this summer.
Ferguson’s Preparedness for the future
“He is prepared to compete in the Champions League, but there have been no discussions with Napoli as of yet.
I have not had direct communication with any of the teams that he has been linked to, including Napoli, Milan, Juventus, Inter, Lazio, and Atalanta.
We will assess every significant player with an eye towards the upcoming season.
Ferguson is an academic at Hamilton University. He signed a €265k contract to join Aberdeen in 2018.
The Scottish team sold him to Bologna in 2022 for €2 million.
Rangers may perhaps wish they had held onto him at Ibrox all those years ago, considering the amount the Serie A team is anticipated to receive from his sale.
He is valued at €18 million by Transfermarkt, but the outcome of the auction might see him depart for considerably more, and none of that money will be coming into Rangers’ coffers.
