News update: Everton makes another demand with an early €34 million bid now proposed.

Everton have sought £51.1 million for the transfer of Amadou Onana after rejecting a £34 million deal from Spanish

club Barcelona, according to Sport Bild.

On March 11, the German news agency stated that Barcelona has pursued Onana to fill the void left by Sergio

Busquets’ departure for Inter Miami.

Arsenal and Chelsea are also thought to be monitoring the midfielder’s position, having been linked during the

January transfer window.

Will Amadou Onana depart Everton this summer?

Given Everton’s financial condition, it appears that the club may be forced to sell several of its key players this

summer. Onana, given his reputation and price, may be one of those guys.

It may be wise for Everton to try to push up the price by leveraging interest from Arsenal and Chelsea in order to

spark a bidding war with Barcelona and capitalize on the possibility to profit from Onana.

Onana arrived at Goodison Park for £36 million, so any deal to let him go would have to be a big rise on that amount

in order to optimize their profit on the midfielder – rather than the initial bid, which was lower than what they had

previously spent.

With Barcelona allegedly opening talks with Everton, it remains to be seen whether they will return with a bid closer

to his valuation, but Arsenal and Chelsea will be on the lookout.
