Everton Transfer News: Premier League club want Everton to give them £25m transfer discount
The Mirror reports that Manchester United wants to sign Jarrad Branthwaite for a reduction of £25 million from Everton’s asking price.
The Old Trafford team has made the Toffees star a top summer transfer target, and regardless of what happens with Erik ten Hag’s future, the paper said on its website on March 11 that they will look to complete a deal for about £50 million.
Real Madrid and other teams are rumoured to be interested in the star center-back at Goodison Park, who is thought to be worth at least £75 million. However, United is expected to try to “drive that price down” until they reach their desired amount.
Only two thirds of Everton’s asking price are what Manchester United is willing to spend for the Goodison Park star.
Large-scale money transfer transactions will undoubtedly always include some negotiation, and this will be especially true now that everyone is so afraid of breaking spending laws.
The irony for Everton is that their own ban has made other teams extremely wary about their own accounts, so if they do end up having to sell, the Toffees could see additional negative fallout.
In an ideal world, Branthwaite, 21, wouldn’t be leaving in any case, and Dyche has made it apparent that he intends to keep him around, even though it seems a little extreme to say the team is problem-free.
If they were forced to make a costly sacrifice, the English defender would undoubtedly earn more money than Amadou Onana, another asset linked to an exit.
But even if the player the Toffees would ideally want to pay nine figures for does leave, it seems like extremely wishful thinking in Manchester to drive a third off the asking price, with Carlo Ancelotti keen in a reunion at the Santiago Bernabeu and other Premier League heavyweights also suitors.
In unrelated Everton news, following the conclusion of Premier League negotiations about the takeover, Josh Wander was called to court in a celebrity dispute.
