At Easter Road, Rangers are dealt a crushing double injury blow as two stars enter an oversized treatment room.

Clement already has to deal with a few more headaches due to his injury history.

Another blow to Rangers’ winger Philippe Clement came when Dujon Sterling was hurt away at Hibs in the Scottish Cup.

Due to a slew of injuries, the Light Blues manager is forced to use striker Fabio Silva and natural right-back Sterling on the wings. Injuries have sidelined Rabbi Matondo, Todd Cantwell, and Oscar Cortes, while Ross McCausland has begun this week on the bench following a collision with Dan Casey during Motherwell‘s loss last Saturday.

Before collapsing and holding his rear thigh, Sterling was tracking Emiliano Marcondes back at Easter Road. McCausland has replaced him, but Clement has suffered a serious blow ahead of this Thursday’s Europa League second-leg match against Benfica.

Ryan Jack, who was expected to start the encounter in Leith, suffered another injury prior to kickoff. Clement described the circumstances to Viaplay, saying, “We lost Ryan Jack for a brief while. We had to rearrange our plans because he sustained a minor injury during the travel to Lisbon, which is very disappointing because I had intended to start working with him today.

“The cup informs you that it may take longer than ninety minutes. Therefore, you have to decide whether to add new legs at the start of the game or at the finish. You may need to extend your playing time by thirty minutes. We believe this to be the finest answer for that reason.

“The men that started today and played the entire game recovered well and felt prepared to go. They performed well on Thursday as well, so I anticipate that they will complete their work and allow others to step in to complete the task.”
