Watch: Maeda Scores the Second Goal for Celtic
After Daniel Mackay responded for Livingston, Daizen Maeda gave Celtic the lead once more.
In the 22nd minute, the Irish goalkeeper got a touch on the ball but was unable to stop ‘Matt O’Rileys right-footed shot inside the Livingston area. Instead, he could only divert it toward Maeda, who headed beyond McGovern.
On his 100th Celtic appearance, Maeda has looked impressive. Over the past two seasons, the Japanese international has demonstrated that he is unstoppable when playing at his best.
Maeda may not have had the best season by his own lofty standards, but he is undoubtedly starting to reflect on his best.
He obviously looks best off the left, especially considering that Brendan Rodgers has had him play a lot of games off the right wing.
Given that each player has missed a significant amount of games this season, their combination off the left side may be crucial in navigating the season’s business end as Reo Hatate approaches his comeback from injury.
Maeda receives criticism occasionally for making bad decisions when he’s in the zone.
In spite of this, he has consistently shown that he is a highly effective player who can help teammates as well as score goals.
