Ibrox Latest : He’ll go to Rangers – sources close to Hearts striker leak information
Rangers will sign Lawrence Shankland if they make a fair proposal to Hearts, Football Insider has learned.
Former Celtic and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie said on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast that the Scottish league’s top scorer would transfer to Ibrox despite being content with the Edinburgh club.
Shankland has long been linked with a move to the Gers, who attempted to sign him during the January transfer window.
According to Football Insider (26 January), Rangers were interested in making a late move for the Scotland international during the winter transfer window, but Hearts refused to trade him in the middle of the season.
Lawrence Shankland appears ready to join Rangers.
Shankland’s contract with Hearts is slated to expire in the summer of 2025,
but he has reportedly turned down repeated offers to sign a new contract and is unlikely to stay at Tynecastle.
The 28-year-old has been a standout in Scotland this season, scoring 20 league goals and 27 overall.
McAvennie, who is well-connected in Scottish football, was convinced Shankland would make the move.
“No disrespect to Hearts, but if Rangers make an offer, Shankland will accept it, according to my sources,” he told the Inside Track Podcast.
“He’s a Rangers supporter, even though he’s comfortable at Hearts.”
Rangers and Benfica drew 2-2 in the opening leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday night (7 March).
They face Hibernian in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals on Sunday evening (10 March).
