Brendan Rodgers is not a ‘long-term’ option for Celtic, as the board’s new sack stance emerges.

According to Football Insider, Celtic do not see Brendan Rodgers as their long-term manager.

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, Scottish correspondent Daniel Bowers highlighted that there have been too many on-field and off-field issues during Rodgers’ second spell at Parkhead, which could force the board to make a decision.

If the former Leicester City manager does not win the title this season, the board is anticipated to fire him, but his job is still in jeopardy.

While the Hoops remain firmly in the title fight despite the Rangers edging ahead of them,

Regular poor performances and squandered points have cost them their commanding lead at the top of the league.

They have lost three of their last six league games, including a 2-0 defeat to Hearts on Sunday (3 March) and a 1-1 draw with

Kilmarnock and Aberdeen will play in February.

Rodgers also had a disappointing Champions League season, finishing last in their group with only four points.

Sources told Football Insider last month (19 February) that the board would not make a quick decision on his future, but issues would be presented this summer.

According to Football Insider (20 February), Rodgers is “unhappy” with the quality of new signings since returning the club.

Celtic remain second in the league after losing to Hearts, although they are still only two points behind rivals Rangers.
