Neil Moxley has attacked the “out-of-control” Premier League for producing “chaos and carnage” with Everton’s punishment,

while Leicester City faces a similar financial fair play infraction.

The Foxes could face charges for two suspected violations of profit and sustainability laws,

but they may now avoid a point deduction this season, with any punishment carried over to the following campaign.

However, talkSPORT (7 March) suggested that Leicester’s Championship rivals may seek legal action against the Foxes,

while Daily Mirror journalist Moxley lambasted the Premier League’s handling of the problem.

He said in the Sunday People (10 March, page 52): “English football is being led into an abyss by the Premier League.” Chaos and carnage.

It’s gotten to the point where we don’t believe league tables.

“So far this season, we’ve seen Everton docked ten points – actually, six – and charges against Nottingham Forest that will take more than two months to resolve.

“And now it appears Leicester are facing similar challenges as a result of the financial disaster they’ve created for themselves,

not to mention legal threats in the Championship if the Foxes’ rivals fail to get promotion.

“How much more lurks beneath the surface?” Will Chelsea be called to account? Or Aston Villa, who just reported a £120 million loss in their books.

“Clubs must accept responsibility, but so should the competition’s organisers. “They have created an out-of-control monster.”

Will Leicester City receive the same punishment as Everton or avoid a point deduction?

Everton fans have been vociferous in their criticism of the Premier League this season,

claiming that they have been treated unfairly on a number of key issues at Goodison Park.

While the Toffees have recovered some of their points back following their appeal against their previous point reduction,

they may face a second hefty punishment if they are found guilty of their second alleged PSR breach.

Furthermore, supporters have been left in the dark as the league continues to delay giving 777 Partners authority to complete their acquisition of Farhad Moshiri, despite having months to make a final judgment.

It appears ludicrous that the Toffees have been chastised so heavily, when Leicester may get away with a slap on the wrist until next season.

Hopefully, common reason will prevail at some point, and the Premier League will regain control of its monster.
