As the board’s new sack position becomes apparent, Brendan Rodgers is not a “long-term” option for Celtic.

According to insiders who spoke with Football Insider, Celtic does not view Brendan Rodgers as the team’s long-term manager.

In an interview with Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, Scottish correspondent Daniel Bowers disclosed that Rodgers’ second stint at Parkhead has been marred by an excessive number of on-field and off-field problems, which may compel the board to make a choice.

Though his job is still in jeopardy, it is thought that the board would fire the former Leicester City manager if he doesn’t win the league this year.

Even though Rangers moved ahead of the Hoops, they are still very much in the running for the championship, but their lead at the top of the table has been eroded by a string of subpar games and lost points.

At Celtic, Brendan Rodgers is in danger.

They have lost three of their last six league games, including their most recent 2-0 setback to Hearts on Sunday, March 3, and their 1-1 draws with Aberdeen and Kilmarnock in February.

Additionally, Rodgers was unable to mount a successful Champions League campaign, finishing with just four points at the bottom of their group.

Football Insider was informed by sources last month (19 February) that although the board is not planning to take a snap decision about his future, inquiries will be made this summer.

Football Insider (February 20, 2016) has also been informed by reliable sources that Aaron Rodgers is “unhappy” with the caliber of new players the team has added since his comeback.

Following their loss against Motherwell on Saturday (2 March), Celtic dropped to second place in the league, but they are still only two points behind rival Rangers.

On Sunday, March 10, they will play Livingston in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals.
