Alex Cochrane actions back up Brendan Rodgers’ issue with SFA and the evidence is clear.
Alex Cochrane actions back up Brendan Rodgers’ issue with SFA and the evidence is clear.
This week, the Celtic VAR dispute took a dramatic turn when Brendan Rodgers was punished by the SFA for his remarks made following the team’s 2-0 loss to Hearts on Sunday.
After John Beaton’s intervention resulted in Hyunjun Yang’s dismissal and Hearts’ penalty for a handball by Tomoki Iwata, the Celtic manager lost his cool.
When questioned about the judgments, Rodgers didn’t hold back, and after calling the SFA officials “incompetent,” the national association moved to prosecute the Celtic manager.
But it appears that the case against Rodgers isn’t as clear-cut as the SFA had hoped, as Alex Cochrane’s actions following Yang’s alleged hazardous tackle appear to support the Celtic manager’s most recent position.
How Brendan Rodgers may escape SFA charge
Mark Guidi and Paul Cooney had a conversation about the Yang red card when the journalist revealed that Cochrane’s actions during the challenge would support Rodgers’ lawsuit against the SFA.
“It’s interesting that Brendan Rodgers has introduced the lawyers into the equation, which we know now happens,” Guidi stated on The Go Radio Football Show.
And it will be interesting to see how the SFA attorneys present the case regarding the allegations against Brendan Rodgers, the circumstances surrounding the charges, and the statements he made that led to the charges.
It will also depend on the referees report. Furthermore, Brendan Rodgers informs the public that the red card report and the language used to support it—in which the SFA asserts that Cochrane’s face had studs—do not match up.
