According to reports, Dermot Desmond, the club’s primary stakeholder,

has Celtic planning to make a “huge” investment on a new striker during the summer transfer window.

The Celts getting ready for life after Abada

Abada has signed an £8 million contract to join MLS team Charlotte FC,

but the Hoops will be eager to add more players this summer in order to continue their upward trajectory and prevent Rangers from getting the better of them.

After starting just five league games in 2023–24 due to personal and family issues related to the Gaza conflict,

the 22-year-old has found it difficult to break through into Rodgers’ plans.

Celtic was eager to cash in on him, ending his brief but productive tenure at Parkhead.

The prolific Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland surfaced as a potential addition during the January transfer window.

The Scottish Premiership powerhouses have been linked with replacements in recent months.

The 28-year-old scored last weekend against the team of Brendan Rodgers,

but it’s unclear if they will pursue him again soon.

Since joining Celtic on loan in January,

Adam Idah has flourished and made a significant impact.

According to one rumor, if he keeps up his current rate of success, a permanent contract with the Hoops could be in the works for him in the summer.

His performance is evident in his five league goals in just four games, which gives the attack an additional offensive energy.

Celtic is trying to sign a big-name striker.

Football Insider has reported that Celtic executives are willing to spend “huge funds” in order to finalize the signing of a new striker at the end of the current campaign.

They’re trying to bring in a “A-list talent” to take Abada’s place.

It is encouraging to see Celtic taking such a bullish stance with regards to their upcoming business, seeing the need to not only replace Abada,

but also ensure that a top-quality player comes in.

Goals haven’t exactly flowed in the Hoops’ attack this season,

with midfielder Matt O’Riley (11) the only player to reach double figures in the league to date,

highlighting the need for additional firepower.

Kyogo Furuhashi 9
David Turnbull 7
Luis Palma 6
Adam Idah 5

Notwithstanding his struggles this season,

Rodgers has praised Abada in the past, saying: “He has already made a great contribution to Celtic,

delivering some great performances and making a real impact.

He will be difficult to replace within the squad.” His ability and enthusiasm are great assets to us,

and he has provided good goals and assists from a wide range of positions.

He is an incredible young athlete.”
