Brendan Rodgers is pushing the Celtic board to make significant changes at Parkhead this summer, according to Football Insider.

According to sources, the Hoops manager intends to “completely overhaul” his squad during the forthcoming transfer window.

Despite leading for the duration of the season, Celtic now trail archrivals Rangers in the Scottish Premiership following a slump in play.

Rodgers’ position is under intense scrutiny, but Football Insider claimed on Friday (8 March) that Celtic are not intending to fire Rodgers despite their league collapse.

The Celtic board was chastised for their lack of investment during the January transfer window after the club’s 2022-23 financial statements indicated a £40 million profit and an amazing £67 million in the bank.

Despite their robust funds, the Glasgow giants spent only £3 million in the January transfer window, with winger Nicolas Kuhn being their lone permanent addition.

During the club’s annual general meeting last month, chairman Peter Lawwell expressed “frustration” with fans about the lack of transfer activity.

Lawwell stated that “resources were available” but mentioned the “unavailability of identified targets”.

Celtic are currently at risk of concluding the season without any silverware after falling behind Rangers in the league, finishing last in their Champions League group, and missing out on the Scottish League Cup.
