We can assume that one Stamford Bridge player who hopes this tale never comes to pass is 26-year-old Robert Sanchez, the goalie for the Blues.

Mauricio Pochettino is still employed as Chelsea’s head coach as of right now. But there’s no denying that his team isn’t playing up to par.

So, is it possible that Roberto De Zerbi will leave his position as Brighton manager and relocate to west London for the upcoming season?

This week, The Guardian reported that Chelsea had named De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim as possible Pochettino successors. They also stated that Pochettino’s job will not be reviewed by the club until the summer.

Naturally, a lot more work needs to be done before this occurs. However, we believe it would be disastrous for Sanchez if De Zerbi were to take over as Chelsea’s manager.

Under De Zerbi’s leadership, the Spanish gloveman—who had previously been Brighton’s top option between the posts—did lose his starting spot.

In the end, the 26-year-old goalie wasn’t proficient enough with the ball at his feet to play football in the manner that was required. Rob Edwards, the manager of Luton Town, called De Zerbi “excellent” (Luton Today). He certainly have a unique style of management.

From what we’ve seen of Sanchez thus far in his first season at Chelsea, playing out of the back has a clear vulnerability.

We don’t think Sanchez has much of a chance to play frequently if De Zerbi joins the team.
