After a seven-month hiatus, former Celtic hero Jota returns to social media with good news.

After making the huge move to Al-Ittihad last summer and paying a hefty £25 million transfer fee to become the club’s joint record signing, Jota’s journey in Saudi Arabia has taken quite the turn.

However, what initially appeared to be a dream abruptly came to an end when he discovered that he was left off of the Saudi Pro League roster. The eight foreign players allowed by the league was the reason for the then-manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s choice. Jota had no place in the league starting lineup with players like Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Fabinho, and Luiz Felipe, as well as established foreign talents.

Jota was reduced to participating in Asian Champions League games after just six games, thereby ending his participation in domestic competitions.

However, after Marcelo Gallardo took over as manager in November, the winds of change started to blow. Jota was back on the abroad squad list by January after Gallardo decided that reintegrating him would be beneficial. In a match against Al-Akhdoud, Jota eventually returned to the field despite a muscular injury that had delayed his comeback. After that, he celebrated his return on Instagram, but several Celtic fans swiftly took over his post and urged him to return to Parkhead!

Jota’s return has Gallardo optimistic, but he must be brought back into match condition after a protracted hiatus. Jota’s involvement in the final 32 minutes of the match contributed to the team’s 2-1 triumph, demonstrating his potential influence going ahead.

Al-Ittihad is now fourth in the league, behind leaders Al-Hilal, who are led by Neymar and have a sizable lead, and Al-Nassr, who are ranked second by Cristiano Ronaldo.
