At this point, it seems like they might be able to trade one of their stars.

Johnson accepted a two-year contract offer from the Steelers. They were obviously not interested in committing for the long haul. Receivers have a history of leaving the squad rather than receiving lavish salaries.

They also met with a couple well-known receivers who could replace Johnson during the NFL Combine.

The Steelers would be wise to try to get something in return for Johnson. Use this season, which might be his last in Pittsburgh anyhow, to concentrate on finding a successor.

The Steelers would need to act quickly if they were to make a deal because Johnson is scheduled to get a roster bonus the following week. However, it might be their greatest opportunity to make sure they have a backup prepared to take over as WR2.
