Following the Europa League match against Benfica, a teenage Rangers supporter passed away in Lisbon. After Thomas McAllister died in Lisbon on Thursday while traveling with friends to see the Ibrox football team, tributes to him have been pouring in.

The 25-year-old was in great spirits just hours before he passed away; he posted photos of himself and close pals in the city on social media before his team’s 2-2 draw.

But while friends and relatives in Scotland received the heartbreaking news that he had died while traveling, catastrophe struck in the Portuguese city.

Although Thomas’s exact cause of death is unknown at this time, friends and family quickly paid their condolences on social media. His dear club also offered their thoughts on his untimely demise.

“It is with profound sadness Rangers FC has been informed that supporter Thomas McAllister passed away in Lisbon following last night’s UEFA Europa League tie with Benfica,” a statement from the team said.

“The immediate thoughts of everyone at the club are with Thomas’ family and friends, and we will remain in constant contact with both the Portuguese and British authorities over this tragic incident.”
