Kansas City Chiefs reached a deal with a critical piece to their Super Bowl-winning defense.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Insider stated on Thursday night that Tranquill is re-signing with Kansas City on a three-year, $19 million contract that includes a $13 million guarantee.

The 28-year-old linebacker, who turns 29 in August, played a crucial role in the top-ranked Kansas City Chiefs defense’s journey to the Super Bowl 58 championship.

Drue Tranquill represented the Kansas City Chiefs in 16 games. He finished with 4.5 sacks and 79 tackles. He was a versatile player who took over as the primary linebacker after the injury of star Nick Bolton.

About Tranquill’s role for their squad this season, Steve Spagnuolo talked. “What I believe is lost in the translation is that we lost a really good football player in Nick Bolton for a number of games here. However, as I believe I’ve mentioned previously, we brought Drue in and haven’t missed a beat when it comes to having to cut things back. It’s unclear if Willie Gay will rejoin the Chiefs in the future.
