Exclusive: Celtic set aside ‘huge funds’ as they work on signing ‘A-list’ forward

According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Celtic are looking to recruit a top-tier forward this summer

to take Liel Abada’s place.

The Israel international has finished a medical exam in preparation for a move to MLS team Charlotte FC,

which beat two other teams to a contract, sources told Football Insider on March 7.

After selling Abada for an initial £8 million, the club is projected to make a profit of £6.5 million,

with add-ons potentially raising that amount to £10 million.

Football Insider has been informed by reliable sources that the Hoops are looking for a

“A-list talent” to take the wide forward’s place.

Celtic are working to sign an ‘A-list’ replacement for Liel Abada

It said that “huge funds” will be set aside going into the summer to secure replacement for the wide forward, who became such an

integral member of the team after joining from Israeli side Maccabi Petah Tikva in 2021.

Celtic are already assessing targets and laying the groundwork for a deal as they compile a shortlist of targets.

They are looking for a direct, quick player in the style of Aaron Abada, who mostly operated on the right wing for Celtic during his 112

appearances in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and dishing out 22 assists.

Abada, who signed for a record £3.6 million and won PFA Young Player of the Year in his maiden season, is one of the attacking

profiles that the Hoops are reportedly targeting.

Following their 2-0 loss to Hearts on Sunday, March 3, Celtic is still in second place in the Scottish Premier League, trailing Rangers

by just two points following their Saturday (2 March) loss to Motherwell.

On Sunday, March 10, they will play Livingston in the Scottish Cup quarterfinals.

In other Celtic transfer news, insiders say that a second star may depart Parkhead when a bid is accepted.
