A key member of the Florida State squad that won the 1999 National Championship, Dorsey was also chosen as an All-ACC player in 2000.

In 2000, he and Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke played together to help the Seminoles advance to the national championship game, where they were ultimately defeated by Oklahoma.

Following that campaign, Dorsey declared for the 2001 NFL Draft, with the Cowboys selecting him in the seventh round.

He participated in nine games in his first year but left the Cowboys in 2002, dividing that season between the expansion Houston Texans and the Cowboys.

Due to a knee injury, Dorsey was dismissed prior to the start of the 2003 season, despite having briefly played for the New York Giants.

Following his retirement from the NFL, he moved back to Jacksonville, Florida, to take a coaching position at Terry Parker Sr. High School, where he helped the team win a district championship.

Dorsey was well-known for his commitment to the athletes and his ability to support them through hardship.

His ability to connect with the children and offer advise based on his personal experiences won him admiration.
