With confidence, Mark Fotheringham believes he can end the dominance of Rangers and Celtic in Scottish football.

The former Huddersfield Town manager is eager to return to the dugout following a brief assignment as a technical analyst for South Korea under Jurgen Klinsmann at the 2024 Asian Cup. Fotheringham was Felix Magath’s assistant manager at Hertha Berlin in the past as well, although his tenure as the Terriers’ first boss was cut short after just four months and five victories in 21 games.

The former midfield player for Livingston, Dundee, and Celtic is convinced that he will have a prosperous managerial career and would love the chance to upset the apple cart at a prestigious Scottish team.

“I would really love to put the cat among the pigeons with the Old Firm in the future, and I believe I’m the man to do it,” the 40-year-old said to the Courier. I think we can do this now. You’ll see someone who is fervently convinced that you can cause issues for Celtic and Rangers if I do land one of the top roles in Scotland.

In order to attack the task from a different angle than others who have worked in Scotland for the past ten years, I pushed myself as a coach and came out of my comfort zone.”

“I don’t see myself as a risk,” he continued, “because the CV is there and has substance.”
