Graduate assistant Michael Hunter, formerly the defensive pass game coordinator at Tulsa, is hired by Ohio State
Ohio State has added a former NFL cornerback as a graduate assistant.
Including six stints with the New York Giants and time spent with six NFL teams between 2016 and 2019. Michael Hunter is a new graduate assistant on defense for Ohio State’s support staff. after James Laurinaitis was elevated to the position of linebackers coach.

Hunter will train alongside Ohio State’s defensive backs, as reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports. He becomes the newest member of a group of graduate assistants. Sean Binckes, an assistant tight ends coach, and Mike Sollenne, an assistant offensive line coach.
Kevin Wilson, the former offensive coordinator at Ohio State, was appointed head coach at Tulsa. For the 2018 campaign, Hunter joined the staff as the cornerbacks coach and coordinator of the defensive pass game. As a graduate assistant secondary coach at Oklahoma State, he started his coaching career in 2021 and 2022. He had previously worked with Jim Knowles, the defensive coordinator at Ohio State.
When Knowles joined the Buckeyes as their defensive coordinator in 2022. Hunter was about to become a support staff member of Ohio State’s coaching staff. But in the end, he made the decision to stay at Oklahoma State during that time. Hunter is now officially working at Ohio State.
