Four Rangers Academy players set to start against Benfica as Philippe Clement announce eight first eleven players could miss the Round of 16 Europa League clash in Portugal

Four Rangers outfield Academy players were sighted being put through their paces as the Ibrox injury list grows ahead of the Europa League trip to Benfica.

Gers boss Philippe Clement has expressed his displeasure that up to eight players could miss the Round of 16 Europa League match in Portugal.

With teenage Northern Irish winger Ross McCausland set to undergo a late fitness check, up to five wingers might be ruled out of the game.

With the club’s playing resources stretched low, several of its Academy players, who are on the UEFA B list,

have been photographed being put through their paces in official pre-Benfica training images.

Rangers Academy players spotted in Benfica training

The first image you’ll see is of Johnly Yfeko, a 20-year-old left-sided defender wearing the number 46 during preparations.

Rangers will be without Leon Balogun for this match because he is not part of the club’s official Europa League roster,

while Ben Davies hasn’t played since the epic triumph against Real Betis in December, which sent the team to the top of the group.

Robbie Fraser (#47) is another left-sided defender, but with Ridvan Yilmaz already on the club’s 22-man squad and Borna Barisic fit,

he is unlikely to play much.

Similarly, midfielders Mackenzie Strachan (#54) and Cole McKinnon (#44) have been captured in training photos, although there are other alternatives in front of them in the squad.

Mr. Thursday Night John Lundstram is shown with possible Rangers European debuts Mohamed Diomande,

Scotland international Ryan Jack, and under-fire Belgian player Nicolas Raskin.

Rangers’ Europa League injuries continue to increase

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is undoubtedly frustrated by the team’s lack of attacking alternatives, while in other areas, the club is one or two injuries away from disaster.

In the midst of a rigorous schedule, the club is slowly approaching the international break,

with Todd Cantwell, Rabbi Matondo, and Abdallah Sima all on their way back.

Meanwhile, these Rangers Academy players will act as backups to the club’s team as they prepare for an exciting Europa League match against Benfica.

If any of them are called upon, the Estadio de Luz would be an excellent venue for their European debut.

Rangers have a fairly great record since returning to the Europa League, and regardless of who takes the field, they must maintain it against Benfica.
