Exclusive: Celtic and Crystal Palace keeping close tabs on two Austrian players
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is interested in signing Rapid Vienna’s Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl this summer.
HITC Football knows that Rapid Vienna’s Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl are garnering interest from a number of British clubs.
Querfeld, 20, has progressed through Rapid’s levels, whilst Seidl, 23, was a summer transfer from FC Blau-Weis Linz who has since become a full international and has been extremely impressive this season.
According to reports, new Palace manager Oliver Glasner has already alerted the club’s management to keep a careful eye on center defender Querfeld and offensive midfielder Seidl.
However, Palace are not the only ones looking ahead to the summer transfer market.
Fulham, Burnley, Wolves, and Leicester, as well as Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, have reportedly viewed both players in action.
Who are Leopold Querfeld and Matthias Seidl?
As previously stated, defender Querfeld came up through Rapid’s youth systems.
At 6 feet 3 inches tall, Vienna-born Querfeld is a physical talent who has already made over 60 first-team appearances at the age of 20.

Seidl’s route has been slightly different, as he spent six years in the ranks with hometown club Red Bull Salzburg.
As a teenager, Seidl played for SV Grodig before moving on to SV Kuchl in Austria’s fourth tier of football.
Seidl joined FC Blau-Weiss Linz in 2021, and the transfer was essential in his development, as he scored 27 goals and assisted 17 times in 62 games.
Seidl, an offensive midfielder, joined Rapid last summer and has been in excellent form this season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists.
It’s no surprise that Palace’s Austrian manager Glasner is aware of their abilities, but the Eagles will appear to face stiff competition for both players.
