Cyriel Dessers told UEFA that his semi-final double against Ligue 1 giants Marseille was the most “beautiful game” of

his career so far.

“The home leg against Marseille in the (Europa Conference League) semi-final when I scored two goals,” Dessers

added.

“In retrospect, those were the goals that brought us to the final, therefore this was perhaps the most beautiful game

of my career so far.

“There are so many good football players in the world, but how many of them can say, ‘I played in a European Final?’

“And I became the top scorer as well so those are the things that I need to cherish and that make me very proud.”

Striker explains interview why he actually joined Rangers

While Cyriel Dessers’ European exploits would have undoubtedly influenced Rangers’ decision to sign him, the

striker himself had to be persuaded to move to Ibrox.

Dessers, who joined the Gers in the summer for a reported £4.5 million from relegated Serie A side Cremonese, has

claimed that he joined the club with the “incentive to build something beautiful”.

“I was extremely happy to sign here,” Dessers stated. “With an incentive to create something lovely.

“It was a challenging start for us this season, but you can see how we turned things around in the last several

months.

“Then, when this club is at full strength, you realize how large Rangers is, and it is massive. “It is unbelievable.”

The huge striker has come under fire for missing numerous chances in the weekend’s Scottish Premiership defeat to

Motherwell.

With Rangers’ injury list growing by the game, or at least it appears to be, Cyriel Dessers will be under pressure to

keep the Ibrox side’s good recent Europa League run going in Lisbon this week.

Rangers legends are formed on such evenings, and we can only hope that the big man can achieve his goals and

propel us to European glory.
