Rangers:A Star finished at Ibrox as terms agreed for new transfer
With an agreement already reached at Ibrox to sign Fabio Silva, Kemar Roofe’s time at Rangers must come to an end.
The 21-year-old Portuguese forward is expected to join the Gers from Wolves until the end of the season, the team announced on
Thursday, December 28.As a result, the 30-year-old, who has already established himself as a bit player under Philippe Clement, finds
himself in a vulnerable situation as the transfer window approaches.
Since the new Light Blues manager joined the team in October, the Englishman has only made five appearances. He has battled to stay
healthy and to contribute when given the chance.
After playing just 16 minutes in the 2-0 victory over St Johnstone on December 20,
he is currently out with yet another injury,
indicating that he won’t be able to be counted on going ahead.
Those stats are insufficient for a striker hoping to prove he still has what it takes to play for a team like Rangers, even though he has
never really had the opportunity to reach his maximum potential.
Given that Silva is nine years older than his new teammate and shows no signs of returning to the field anytime soon, Roofe should be
concerned about Silva’s coming. With summer signing Danilo out for several months, it will allow the Portuguese to gain experience
behind the table as he attempts to fight Cyriel Dessers for a starting spot.
After failing to get consistent playing time in the team this season—scoring one goal in ten appearances across all competitions—Silva
joins on loan from Wolves.
He hasn’t quite fit in at Molineux since joining the Premier League team for an incredible £35 million in 2020, only managing five
goals and six assists in 72 games.
However, he will be optimistic that he can contribute in Glasgow after scoring 16 goals while on loan at Anderlecht and PSV last
season.
